Dr. Steve Ayers delivers the sermon today, Oct. 29, with scriptures from Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18 and Matthew 22:34-46. The Rev. Allen Scott is the deacon of the week. He will read the Old Testament scripture and have the morning prayer.

Deacons meeting

The deacons will meet this afternoon, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.

Men’s Breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast at Punchy’s is on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8 a.m.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are available in the lobby. Please see the list of items that can be included. Cost to ship is $9. A packing party for will be next Sunday, Nov. 5, from 9:30-11:30 for school age children.

Food on the First, R.A.I.N supplies, PLC supplies

Next Sunday, Nov. 5, is Food on the First. Please bring groceries for CCM or supplies for the R.A.I.N. closet or the Performance Learning Center.

Budget conference

A church conference will be held on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. to answer your questions about the new budget. The church will vote at both services without discussion on Nov. 12.

15 years at Poplar Tent

Mark your calendar for Nov. 19 as we celebrate 15 years at the 5300 Poplar Tent Road location and the retirement of the debt.

Advent poinsettias

During the Advent season poinsettias will be in the church in memory or in honor of a loved one. Envelopes will be available next week. Cost will be $12. Deadline to order is Nov. 19.

McGill Christmas post office

Beginning Nov. 26 through Dec. 17 you can “mail” your Christmas card to our active church members for 25 cent per card. All money collected will help our children’s missions. This year we will pack 100 boxes from what you have donated throughout the year. The money collected for cards last year will pay the shipping cost this year.

Hot dog help needed

Please see Winfry Whicker to volunteer to help with hot dogs.
