Deacon election begins

We will begin the process of electing new deacons next Sunday. We will receive nominations for deacons on June 19 and 26.

Arkansas Mission needs

The youth will go to Arkansas in July. The following are items that are needed: puzzles, beach towels, bags with handles and sunscreen spray 30 or higher.

 Need barbecue?

There is barbecue available in five pound bags or one pound containers. See Bruce Arrowood if you would like to purchase some for your summer cook-outs or family get togethers.

Global Missions goal

The CBF Easter Global Missions Offering is being received through Easter Sunday. The offering supports all field personnel. McGill’s goal is $4000.

Youth Deadline

Today is the deadline for youth to sign up for the spring retreat at Awanita Valley. Deposit is $25.00. See Paul today.

J.O.Y. Club meeting

The J.O.Y. Club meets on Thursday at 11 a.m. The program will be the renowned accordionist, Jerry Goodman. Jerry has been here before and he is the best! Come hear Jerry play Irish music as we celebrate St. Paddy’s Day!

McGill Barbecue

The 10th annual BBQ will be on Friday, March 18, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Jim Avett will perform at noon and at 5:30 p.m. Please see Bruce to buy or sell tickets or to volunteer to work. Proceeds help fund mission work at McGill.

If you have food items or drinks in the refrigerator or freezer in the kitchen or the McCoy classroom please remove them before this Friday, March 11.

Baked goods are also needed for the BBQ. Refrigerated desserts are welcome but since refrigerated space is limited please let Trena Goodnight or Debbie Mullis know. If possible please have your desserts to the McCoy Sunday School Classroom by Thursday, March 17.

Senior Adult Appreciation meal

The youth will host a Senior Adult Appreciation meal on Sunday, March 13, at 5:30. There is no charge for the meal. Come and get to know our youth.

Easter Egg Hunt

On Sunday, March 20, from 2-3:30 children preschool-3rd grade will have a fun afternoon at the annual Egg Hunt. Please bring your own basket.

Ladies Retreat

The ladies’ retreat is April 8-9 at the Brantley Center located on the campus of The Children’s Home, Winston Salem NC.  Our discussions and study will be using a book by Joanna Weaver, “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World…Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life.”  Sign up begins today, and the cost is $60.

Final performance

Cotton Patch Gospel will be presented this afternoon at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased after worship or at the door.

“Still Becoming…” is an afternoon of tea and fun on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3:00, hosted by the Marys and Marthas. This year our theme comes from the children’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Dress is casual. Sign up today.

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children recycles your used greeting cards and creates new holiday and all-occasion greeting cards. Deposit your cards in the box in the foyer. McGill missions will prepare the cards and mail to St. Jude’s.

Ash Wednesday

The Imposition of Ashes will be from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10. This will a drop in ceremony.

Children’s Concert

The Piedmont Prime Time Community Band will present a Children’s Concert at the Gem Theatre in Kannapolis at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 13. More information is available at www.primetimeband.org

Cotton Patch Gospel production

Tickets are available for the “The Greatest Story Ever Told” from the Cotton Patch Gospel. Performances will be Feb. 19-21 with dinner on Friday and Saturday and a matinee Sunday afternoon with no meal.

McGill will be in charge of the Winter Night Shelter on January 24-30. Please see Robert Kluttz if you are interested in helping.

Cotton Patch Gospel

“The Greatest Story Ever Retold”, the Cotton Patch Gospel, will be presented at McGill on Friday, February 19, and Saturday, February 20, at 7 p.m. Dinner will be served. On Sunday, February 21, there will be a matinee performance at 3 pm with no meal. Tickets will go on sale soon. Please see Steve Harrill if you‘d like to help.

Christmon classes

Beginning in February the Piedmont Garden Warehouse in Salisbury will schedule classes to make the gold beads and pearl Christian symbols for display on Chrismon Trees. If you are interested you can call 704-636-7790 or go to their website and be placed on their mailing list to be notified when classes will be held.
