Aug. 9: Advice Worth Following

Today’s sermon title by Dr. Steve Ayers is “Advice Worth Following.”  The New Testament scriptures come from Ephesians 4:25 – 5:2. The Rev. Paul Haywood will lead Children’s Time at the 10:45 service. The Sanctuary Choir will perform the morning anthem I’ll Live for Him Who Died for Me.

Bruce Arrowood is the Deacon of the Week. He will read the Old Testament scriptures Psalm 34:1-8 and lead the morning prayer.

The flowers at the alter today are given in loving memory of Nancy Jordan by her daughter, Julie, and her husband, Conrad, and their sons, Jordan and Taylor.

Meetings

The McGill Deacons will meet today (Aug. 8) at 2 p.m.

The Church Council will meet on Monday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m.

The J.O.Y. Club meets on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Come enjoy the fellowship.

Mission project

“Soles for Souls” is a CommUNITY Back to School Shoe Distribution project. Partnering with Samaritan’s Feet, the event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Marvin Caldwell Park.  See Dr. Winfry Whicker if you would like to help.

Our Pastor, Dr. Steve Ayers, will deliver today’s sermon “Well Gifted” with the New Testament scriptures coming from Ephesians 4:1-16. Mandy Ashley is the Deacon of the Week. She will read the Old Testament scripture from Psalm 51:1-12 and lead the morning prayer during the 10:45 service today. The Sanctuary Choir will sing O That I Had a Thousand Voices .

Worship services are held at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

Dr. Steve Ayers’ sermon title this week is “Who Is Family” The scriptures at Psalm 130 and Mark 3:20-35.

Mrs. Judy Jones is the deacon of the week. She is leading the Old Testament lesson and lead the morning prayer.

Caleb and Jackie Pace will perform the morning anthem “In Christ Alone” at the 10:45 service.

Today is Graduate Sunday. We honor those who are graduating from high school and from college. Scholarships will be awarded.

Announcements and needs

The youth are collecting towels, bags and 30 spf spray sun screen for their Arkansas Mission Trip. They are also collecting K cups for a craft in Arkansas.

Vacation Bible School  is July 19-24. The theme is Weird Animals-Where Jesus’ Love is One of a Kind!

  Notes from around McGill

Mrs. Donna Duncan is the deacon of the week. She will read the Old Testament lesson and have the morning prayer.

Today (May 24) is the deadline to return application forms. Scholarships will be awarded on Graduate Sunday, June 7. There is a box outside of Paul’s door where you can leave your application.

Please prayerfully consider seven people who you would recommend as deacons for a three year term. There is a form in the bulletin for your use. There is a list of the current deacons on the form.

The youth will lead both services in worship on Sunday, May 31.

Music Appreciation will be on Sunday, May 31, at 6 p.m. A dessert fellowship will follow the music program.

The McGill Child Development Center will have graduation at the church on Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The Youth ask that you save your K cups for a craft at the Arkansas mission program.

Vacation Bible School  is July 19-24.

R.A.I.N. supplies needed include dish and laundry detergents, toilet paper, paper towels, dog food, deodorant, and all purpose cleaners.
