Dr. Steve Ayers delivers the sermon with scriptures from Genesis 32:22-31 and Matthew 14:13-21. Donna Duncan is the deacon of the week. She will read the Old Testament scripture and have the morning prayer.
Operation Christmas Child
Items for Operation Christmas Child in August: School Supplies. A packing party for Operation Christmas Child is on Sunday, November 5, from 9:30-11:30 for school age children. You are also encouraged to pack a shoebox of your own.
Church Council meets
Church Council will meet Monday night, August 7, at 7 p.m. Please bring the dates that you need for the calendar for the upcoming months. If you cannot come please let Joyce Kluttz know the dates you need on the calendar.
J.O.Y. Club meeting
The J.O.Y. Club will meet on Thursday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. Come and enjoy Hawaii with food of the islands and Mallie Ploughman and friends from the Cabarrus Senior Center showing us the “Hula” dance.
Youth Swim Party
On August 16 the youth will have a swim party at the Northwest Swim Club from 5-8 p.m.
Learn to play handbells
Glenita Riley invites anyone who is interested in learning the basics of playing handbells and reading music to a one-day class on Saturday, August 19, at 10 a.m. in the choir room. Please let her know if you’d like to attend.
Urgent need for nursery workers
Nursery Volunteers Needed! The nursery is one of the first places many visitors see. Help us make a good impression by volunteering for one Sunday every other month (or being an alternate). We have a real need for the baby and the toddler rooms for both services. See Jordan Plemmons for the 8:30 a.m. service or Melinda Wolanin for the 10:45 service.
