July 5: Home Troubles

“Home Troubles” is this week’s sermon by Dr. Steve Ayers at both the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services. The new testament scripture comes from Mark 6:1-13.

The Sanctuary Choir, under the direction of the Rev. Steve Harrill, will perform the morning anthem, “Without Love, It Will All Pass Away'”

Deacon of the Week

The Rev. Jackie Pace is the deacon of the week. She will read the Old Testament lesson from Psalm 48 and lead the morning prayer during the 10:45 service.

Arkansas Mission needs

The youth need 30 SPF spray sun screen for their Arkansas Mission Trip.  Please keep the group in your prayers. They will leave Friday, July 10th and return the Saturday, July 18th.

Just Older Youth Club (J.O.Y.) meeting

The J.O.Y. Club will meet on Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Alan Buckner.

‘Soles for Souls’ shoe project

“Soles for Souls” is a CommUNITY Back to School Shoe Distribution project. Partnering with Samaritan’s Feet the event will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Marvin Caldwell Park.  A sign up sheet is available in the lobby. Please see Dr. Winfrey Whicker with questions.

Chrismon making class

Please speak with Joyce Kluttz or Wanda Ritchie if you are interested in a Chrismon Class at Rufty’s Chrismon Shop in Salisbury. All the Chrismons on our tree at Christmas have been made by our members.

Vacation Bible School

Vaction Bible Sschool is July 19-23. The theme is “Weird Animals-Where Jesus’ Love is One of a Kind!” Volunteers are needed to guide the children from one activity to another. A hot dog supper will be at 6 p.m. on July 23. Clear, clean 2 liter bottles are needed.

Youth Passport trip a big success

The McGill Youth returned from Greensboro College late this week after a full-filled and meaninful week at Passport Camp. The Rev. Paul Haywood led our group.

Worship services Sundays at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

McGill is located at 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, N.C. It is at the corner George Liles Parkway and just off Exit 54 of I-85.
