Dr. Steve Ayers will deliver the sermon “Bearing Gifts” with scriptures from Isaiah 60:1-6  and Matthew 2:1-12  Jason Ball is the Deacon of the Week. He will read the Old Testament scripture and have the morning prayer. The Santuary Choir will before the morning anthem Lo, How a Rose E’re Blooming.

Youth News

For youth tonight we will play volleyball and have some fun with new photo booth pictures.

The Youth Council will meet on Sunday, January 10, at 4:30 pm. The Children’s Council will meet on Wednesday, January 13, at 6 pm.

Blood Drive

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is holding a blood drive at McGill on Monday, January 11, from 4-7 p.m.

Other items of note

The J.O.Y. Club meets on Thursday, January 14, at 11 am.

McGill will be in charge of the Winter Night Shelter on January 24-30. Please see Robert Kluttz if you are interested in helping.

Offering envelopes are in your Sunday School class or in the hallway outside Paul’s office. Please pick yours up today. Call Patsy if you do not see your envelopes.

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children recycles your used greeting cards and creates new holiday and all-occasion greeting cards. Deposit your cards in the box in the foyer. McGill missions will prepare the cards and mail to St. Jude’s.

Cook Smart, Eat Smart Cooking School is sponsored by the Cabarrus County Extension and Community Association. The cooking school will be on Thursdays, January 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 6-8:30 pm at the 715 Cabarrus Avenue West office. Cost is $50 and includes the dinner you will prepare each night and a cookbook. Register online at http://cabarrus county.us/register or call Pam Outen at 704-920-3310.

Beginning in February the Piedmont Garden Warehouse in Salisbury will schedule classes to make the gold beads and pearl Christian symbols for display on Chrismon Trees. If you are interested you can call 704-636-7790 and be placed on their mailing list to be notified when classes will be held.
