This year’s theme is, “Because Presence Matters,” and it focuses on Luke 24:13-37. In this passage, it has been three days since Jesus was crucified. Cleopas and a companion are traveling on Emmaus Road and grieving because they had heard that the body of Jesus was no longer in the tomb. No one knew where he was. Jesus found these two grieving travelers and walked with them. He didn’t offer any kind of consolation or explanation, he was simply present. He met them where they were.

Our CBF Field personnel have long-term ministries all over the world. A lot of times we think different types of ministry can have quick results, but Jesus models a ministry of presence and relationships. Our personnel have been able to connect with their communities and form close and lasting relationships with the people. Presence enables them to offer encouragement and share the Word with others.
