E. Steven Ayers

       Steve grew up in Winston-Salem and attended public schools there. He met Janet in the second grade and they even rode the school bus together. He received a Morehead Scholarship to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In May of 1973, Steve graduated with a degree in History and Psychology. In the spring of 1976, he received his Master of Divinity Degree in New Testament studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky awarded him the Doctor of Ministry degree in 1990. He authored one of the only projects dealing with environmental stewardship of the earth.

        Family and ministry are the loves of his life. He enjoys his calling as the senior pastor of McGill and finds great fulfillment in helping people in their pilgrimage of faith. Dr. Ayers has served Union Cross Baptist Church in Kernersville, Caroleen Baptist Church, and the First Baptist Church of Bladenboro as pastor. He served as Pastor at McGill in the early 80's and returned as our pastor in June 1999. Steve has served on many diverse associational and state committees. He has been a member of the General Board of Baptist State Convention and the Christian Life Council. His hobbies include reading and photography.
