Share the Harvest Community Farm

West Cabarrus YMCA’s Farm Manager, David Goforth, has announced a volunteer schedule through the end of the summer. Volunteer work days are Wednesdays and Saturdays  from 8 until 12 rain or shine.

The workdays over the next few weeks will emphasize training for those people interested in learning about gardening. Volunteers are needed to make this venture successful as one means to address hunger in our community.

As school comes to a close, the community need for nutritious food increases as school lunch programs end for the summer. Sweet potato slips are anticipated on May 28. Using crop rotation, spring, summer and fall crops are possible to extend productivity through most of the year.

Volunteers are asked to use Volunteer Spot as a quick and easy way to sign up. The link is http://vol.pt/ zMrWRK. If you sign up here you will be notified by email of last minute changes in the schedule or upcoming events.
