Happy 90th Birthday Archie

The flowers today are given by the family of Archie Ritchie in honor of his 90th birthday, today, July 29, and in appreciation to God for the blessing he is to each of us. VBS/Parents’ Night Out

VBS / Parent’s Night Out is Friday, August 3, from 6-8 p.m.

Fighting poverty

McGill will host “Bridges Out of Poverty” Class and Hope Teams  on Thursday nights from August and thru November 15. The class offers a new perspective for understanding and addressing the dynamics which characterize life in poverty and why is it so difficult for people to break out of poverty. McGill will provide a meal for the group each week. The following weeks are open if you would like to volunteer to help: August 30, September 6 or 27, October 4 or 25 and November 8 or 15. See Winfry Whicker with questions.

 Samaritan’s Feet

The Samaritan’s Feet event will be on Saturday, August 11, for 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Shoes will be given out to children in need in our community. Please sign up today to volunteer or see Donna Duncan with questions.

Part of the Samaritan’s Feet event will be packing of backpacks at Epworth United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 8, at 6 p.m. You are asked to donate school supplies for the backpacks through today, July 29. Backpacks will be given out on August 11 during The Samaritan’s Feet event.

Flowers celebrate Howells’ anniversary

The flowers today are given in honor of Gail Howell by Melvin Howell on their 61st wedding anniversary. “The past 60 years of my life I have been blessed with Gail’s enduring, undying love. There is nothing I can do or say that would ever show my love and appreciation for her being right beside me through everything. Gail, I love you!”

Flowers to remember and celebrate

The flowers today are giving in memory of Shelia Mullis on her birthday July 7 and in memory of Shawn Mullis for his birthday on August 17. They are also given in honor of Sam Mullis on his birthday today; Sammy Mullis who has a birthday on August 16 and Sarah Burris for her birthday on July 28.

The youth left for Helena-West Helena, Arkansas Friday. They posed for this picture before they left for the mission trip.

Remembering Glenn Hartsell

During the offertory today a song will be played that was recorded by Mr. Glenn Hartsell. July 9 would have been Glenn’s 94th birthday. We appreciate the wonderful legacy that Glenn left us.

J.O.Y. Club meeting

The J.O.Y. Club will meet on Thursday, July 12, at 11 a.m. Our guest speaker will be Amanda Buck, Certified Senior Advisor, who is a consultant for Cannon Pharmacy. She will speak on senior health and has valuable information for seniors about medicine. Come and enjoy a time of great food and fellowship.

Food on the First

Cooperative Christian Ministry needs include soups, pork and beans, saltine crackers, breakfast items, canned meats and canned fruits and vegetables. During the summer months children will not have breakfast or lunch at school. Cereal, breakfast bars and peanut butter and jelly are needed.

The R.A.I.N. Closet needs cleaning supplies and Clorax.

Esther’s Heart Collection will always needs crackers and peanut butter (not peanut butter crackers!)

If you would rather give money to the church to purchase food for C.C.M., P.L.C. or R.A.I.N. supplies you can do so by noting on your giving envelope and check the amount you would like to go towards any of these missions.

Fourth of July

The church office will be closed on Wednesday, July 4.

Men’s breakfast

The men will meet at Punchy’s for breakfast on Thursday, July 5, at 8 a.m.

No Friday hot dogs this week

There will not be a hot dog sale this Friday, July 6.

Arkansas mission trip

The youth will go to Arkansas July 6-14. You can participate in this mission trip by bringing spray sunscreen, beach towels and totes for the children of Helena/West Helena.

J.O.Y. Club meeting
