Children of God

Memorial Day holiday

The church office will be closed on Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day.

Graduate Sunday June 3

We will honor graduates on Sunday, June 3. Graduates are asked to meet in the lobby at 10:30 to process into the church at the 10:45 service. Please wear your cap and gown. Scholarships will be awarded. The group will have dinner at Afton Tavern on Monday, June 4, at 7 p.m. Please let Paul know if you can attend.

Men’s meeting at Punchy’s

The men will meet at Punchy’s Diner on June 7 for breakfast at 8 a.m.

Church pool party

The Family Life Committee is sponsoring “Nacho Average Church Pool Party” on Sunday, June 10, from 4-7 at 801 Kings Crossing Drive in Concord. Please RSVP to Erin Currie at 980-521-6563.

Donuts for Dads

We will celebrate dads on Father’s Day, June 17, with “Donuts for Dad” between services at 9:15 a.m.

The deadline to return scholarship applications is today, May 20. Please be sure your application is complete. The scholarships will be awarded on Graduate Sunday, June 3, at the 10:45 service. Completed scholarship can be left in the box outside Paul’s office or under Patsy’s door. Please call the church office if you are graduating and give us your information. Graduates are asked to wear their cap and gown on June 3. The group will go out for lunch at Afton Tavern after the service. Please let Paul Haywood know if you are coming.

Habitat for Humanity

Sign up to work on a project with Habitat for Humanity in the back of the sanctuary. Ten volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone can do the work that we have been assigned. See Donna Duncan or Winfry Whicker with questions.

J.O.Y. Club ham breakfast

On Thursday, May 10, at J.O.Y. Club, we will be celebrating National Seniors Month with the annual country ham breakfast (brunch). All of you are invited to join in the celebration by attending J.O.Y. Club at 11:00 a.m. for a delicious meal especially prepared by some of our “cooks.”

Spring Concert

Piedmont Choral Society Spring Concert is today, May 6, at 3 p.m. at Forest Hill UMC 265 Union Street. Cabarrus County’s 50-voice community choir will present its annual Spring Concert “An American Choral Landscape” (Shenandoah, Spirituals, Hymn Settings and more). The concert is free! Support your local arts.
