McGill Missions Post Office

Beginning today through December 17 you can “mail” your Christmas card to our active church members for 25 cents per card. Cards can be left in the lobby and will be distributed to Sunday School classes. All money collected will help our children’s missions.

Moravian Lovefeast

The Moravian Lovefeast will be on Sunday, December 3, at 6 p.m. This is a wonderful beginning to the Advent season. The service celebrates the birth of Christ with scripture reading and prayer, hymns, sweet bread and special coffee and lighting of the candles.

Family Movie Night

On Friday, December 8, at 7 p.m. the Family Life Committee will have movie night for all ages featuring the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” with  popcorn and hot cocoa bar.

Coat, Clothing & Toy Drive

The Joint Missions Council is collecting gently worn or new coats for children up to size 12 and socks and underwear for preschoolers. We will also collect new toys for the Empty Stocking Fund. Tubs are in the back of the sanctuary where food on the first is located.

Brunswick Stew

See Bruce Arrowood today if you would like to order Brunswick Stew to be delivered after Thanksgiving. There is also BBQ available at the church.

15 Years at Poplar Tent


Dr. Steve Ayers delivers the sermon today, Sunday, Nov. 19, as McGill celebrates 15 years at the Poplar Tent location of the church and the retiring of the church debt. Dr. Winfry Whicker is the deacon of the week. He will read the Old Testament scripture and have the morning prayer. The flowers today are given in celebration of the 15th anniversary of our moving to Poplar Tent Road and retiring of the debt.

Advent poinsetta

Envelopes are available today to order a poinsettia in honor or in memory of a loved one. Cost is $12.  The deadline to order is today.

No Youth tonight

Because of our celebration and lunch today there will be no youth tonight. Don’t forget that your deposit for PassportChoices is due today.

Church budget

The church will vote at both services today, November 12, on the 2018 budget. Copies of the budget are available in the lobby as well as the October statement.

Next Sunday, November 19, we will celebrate 15 years at the 5300 Poplar Tent Road location and the retirement of the debt. There are signup sheets in the back of the sanctuary for the meal that will be served following the last service.

Operation Christmas Child

The children will pack the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes this morning, Nov. 5, from 9:30-11:30. All school age children are invited to help.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are available in the lobby. Please see the list of items that can be included. Cost to ship is $9.

Budget conference

A church conference will be held today, Nov. 5,  at 6 p.m. to answer your questions about the budget for 2018. The church will vote at both services without discussion on November 12.

J.O.Y. Club meeting

Joy Club will meet on Thursday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. We invite all to come and enjoy a delicious meal and hear our speaker, John Kane, Retired Special Agent – Diplomatic Security. His topic is Overseas Security Challenges. John is the husband of Kim Kane. Come and welcome John and Kim.
