Losing Life

Youth trip to Passport

Youth and their chaperones are going to Greensboro College for Passport camp today. Please keep them in your prayers.

Tai chi class

Susan Pollack’s tai chi class will meet on Thursday, June 28. It will not meet on July 6.

Missionaries from Ukraine

Nina and Gennady Podgaisky, our missionaries in the Ukraine, will be with us in worship and Sunday School on July 2.

Food on the First, RAIN needs

Food on the First is next Sunday. The RAIN closet needs Kleenex, paper towels and laundry detergent.

Arkansas mission help needed

If you would like to help the youth going to Arkansas by bringing sunscreen and beach towels please do so by July 1.

J.O.Y. Club meeting

J.O.Y. Club meets on August 13. Guest speaker will be John Shepherd. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship.

Items for Operation Christmas Child:  June: Small toys    July: flip-flops, socks, underwear, t-shirt, hat, sunglasses, tote bag, small jewelry, watches, flashlight with extra batteries.

M&M Craft Night

Mark your calendar for M&M Craft Night on August 4 from 6:30-9:30. Everyone is invited. Look for more details and sign up sheet in July and for more M&M fall activities.

Hot dog delivery drivers needed

Delivery drivers are needed for hot dogs. Also needed are workers for the 4th and 5th Friday to do desserts and drinks in the dining area.

Patriotic Concert today

Celebrate America! The Piedmont Choral Society and guest community singers will perform “All Patriotic Music” today, Sunday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord. The concert is free. A love offering will be taken.

Happy Anniversary

The flowers in the sanctuary are given in honor of Gene and Frances Morris on their 56th wedding anniversary. They are given with love by Susan, Alec, Bill, Tracie and Lea.

Share the Harvest Farm open house

Share the Harvest Farm will have an open house on Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. until noon. Squash is the theme for this year. David Goforth will have a stir fry demonstration at 10:00. Also featured is how easy it is to grill vegetables at 10:30.  Squash pickles will be shared. Free samples will be given.

Vacation Bible School

CALLING ALL COWHANDS!    Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 17th, 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m.    We hope all of our 3 year olds to rising 5th graders will kick off their summer at the McGill Corral.   Music, games, Bible study and FUN await you!    If you are willing to volunteer that day, please see Angie Schmitt or Lauren Simpson. Here are a few items we need for our McGill Corral.   If you can send in any of these supplies we will greatly appreciate it!   Hay bales for decoration, empty soup cans, brown paper lunch bags, brown grocery bags, supplies to make Trail Mix…chex, candy corn, cheerios, honey combs, cocoa puffs, M and M’s, etc.

Please bring sunscreen and beach towels before July 1 for the Arkansas youth trip.

Graduate Sunday

Dr. Steve Ayers’s sermon title today is “Happy Birthday Church!” with scriptures from Psalm 104:24-35b  and Acts 2:1-21. The Rev. Allen Scott is the deacon of the week. He will read the Old Testament scripture and lead the morning prayer. 2017 graduates will be recognized and the annual McGill Scholarships will be presented.

Tai Chi Class

The Tai Chi class led by Susan Pollack will meet on Thursday, June 8.

J.O.Y. Club meeting

The J.O.Y. Club meets on Thursday at 11 a.m. Come and bring a friend. The food will be provided.

Summer mission camps

There will be a meeting of those going to Passport this morning (June 4) at 9:30 a.m. For those going to Arkansas, there will be a meeting also today (June 4) at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided. We will go over the crafts for the week for Arkansas.
